Hello everybody,
Almost a year later I'm finally back with another post. 😅🙈
Today it is going to be about my road trip around Tasmania. Starting with a flight from Perth to Tasmania (Hobart airport), where I've waited for my friend to arrive. Later on we've rented a camper van and then our adventure could begin. It was a week road trip, and now I can say that I would happily stay longer. We've stayed at different campsites but in comparison to the rest of Australia all of them were pretty cheap some of them free. Also, another positive thing to say, all people we've met here were so friendly and helpful to us, that's not a common thing to see nowadays, so it just made our trip even better.
Okay lets start! Here are the places that we've visited and would recommend:
Side note: We've mainly travelled on the east side of Tasmania since there were most of the things we wanted to see.
Bay of fires - (1.pic) Beautiful views, everything surrounded by nature. White sandy beaches and big orange rocks.
Launceston - This city was on our way to the Cradle Mountain. It is a nice place full of shops and cafes, chill to walk around. (Gem spot for a cafe in the end)
Cradle mountain - One of my most favourite places in whole Australia, unfortunately we've arrived quite late so didn't have much time here, but still had the best time. You can walk around the national park, visit a Dove lake (pic.2), lookouts. Wombats were everywhere! (pic.3)
Wineglass bay - (pic.4) (Located in the Freycinet National Park) - We've decided to do a little hike, so went to see the bay from the lookout. It's 1000 stairs about 1,5/2h return, would say a moderate hike.
Mount Wellington - Nice lookout over the city (Hobart), but very windy so be ready.
Bruny Island
We were deciding which island to go since we had a limited time, so we've chosen to go to Bruny island where we've travelled with our van on a ferry (cca 20 min. ride). It's an amazing small island with so much to offer: Wide beaches, rich nature and so many animals. At nighttime if you're lucky you can spot a very rare species of white wallabies (pic.1)
Truganini lookout - ''the neck'' (pic.2) (Bruny Island): amazing time to go for a sunrise or a sunset and if you're lucky you can see penguins from here at a certain period.
Cafes and food stops
Cafe/breakfast - Bread + butter (Launceston) - (pic.2) Amazing food and coffee + baked goods.
''The bread fridge'' - (pic.3) A fridge on the side of the road, where an old local man puts (daily) a freshly baked bread and sometimes some cookies or other baked goods. (Come early morning, its quickly gone).
Cheese and bread (Bruny Island) - Local cheese shop with some yummy tasting. (a tip for you, we got bread from the bread fridge and a cheese from here, the best combo).
Honey (Bruny Island) - (pic.4) Nice honey tasting from the local Tasmanian bees. You can also get some local products/souvenirs at the shop.
Chocolate company (Bruny Island) - Chocolate and fudge tasting.
